Big Bog State Recreation Area, often called Minnesota's 'last true wilderness,' features a massive 500-square-mile peatland, the largest in the lower 48 states. The park is divided into two units: a northern unit containing a famous mile-long boardwalk through the bog and a southern unit on the shores of Upper Red Lake that offers camping, swimming, and premier fishing for walleye and northern pike.
