Sand Flats Recreation Area is a world-renowned destination for mountain biking, 4x4 driving, and camping, managed through a partnership between Grand County and the Bureau of Land Management. The area encompasses 9,000 acres of high-desert plateau and is home to the famous Slickrock and Porcupine Rim bike trails. It offers 124 individual campsites across nine camping clusters and two reservable group sites. All sites are primitive, providing picnic tables, fire rings, and access to vault toilets, but no water or electricity is available.
